Holiday sweatshop

It's time for the October blog hop with Papertrey Ink! Tonight I thought I'd share one of the Christmas card sets I turned out in my little "sweatshop". Haha!



This set uses images from Snowflake Serenade, Holiday Treats, and Polka Dot Basics. (I also used a little $1 Delta tree stamp.) I stamped 3 full sheets and then cut them into strips. Besides the stamped strips I also added some machine stitching, vintage buttons in Spring Moss, and Scarlett Jewel bitty dots ribbon.

Challenge 4: Australia

Whew. I think I have jetlag from these international cards.

Challenge 4 was to make a card using influences from Australia.



I used Borders and Corners Oval for the focal image. Then I added the squiggles around the dots using a gel pen. The sentiment is from Mega Mixed Messages. I've been trying to figure out what to use this black and white patterned paper for... it's a little modern for my taste but worked great here.

Challenge 3: India

Ok, I took about a million pictures of this card and none of them do it justice. Click on the pictures to see the detail.



Challenge 3 was to create a card with the colors and patterns of India. I went for bling.



I used Guidelines and gold embossing powder to create the pattern. I added some rhinestones for extra sparkle. I'm really craving some curry and naan now.



Sentiment is from Everyday Classics. The floral pattern on the purple paper was created with Floral Fusion.

Challenge 2: Mexico

Challenge #2 was to create a card using the influences of Mexico.



I used strips of various colors of paper to create a Mexican blanket look.



The focal point uses quilt squares from Quilter's Sampler which I colored with gel pens. A Mexican exchange student in college gave me a bookmark with images colored with chalks, so I sort of recreated that pop of pastels using the gel pens.



Oh, I also fringed the edges of the paper strips for my "blanket". The sentiment is from Everyday Classics (anniversary 2).

Challenge 1: Japan

For World Cardmaking Day, Nichole Heady at Papertrey Ink issued a series of challenges to create cards using influences from other countries. Challenge #1 was Japan.



I was fortunate enough to be able to attend CHA this summer and purchased enough merchandise to get the free Floral Fusion set so I used it here.



I used a paper crimper to simulate an asian paper lantern look for the background.



The sentiment is from Paper Tray.

Let's do the monkey puzzle!



Then tomorrow, maybe we can do the monkey puzzle again.



And wear a fairy skirt.



And maybe we'll find an abandoned wedding cake in the park.
