Greetings

I've been on sort of a roll lately in the craft room. I think it's because I finally have things organized enough that I can function again. Also some of my "extracurricular" activities like softball are winding down so I have more time. I'm working on a series of greeting cards that I could possibly sell in packs of 10 in a local venue. I'm trying to keep it fairly simple so that I'm not investing more time than it's worth. The theme I have in mind is sort of an earthy-vintage. Don't worry, I know what I mean. :) Here are a couple prototypes:

The deal with the first one is that I had just gotten the Guidelines set from PTI in the mail and was playing around with layering a couple of the tiles (hence the green and orange "flowers"). I like the second one a lot better. It uses patterned paper from the "Old World" stack by DCWV stamped with "Birds Galore" from Inkadinkado.

Wildlife

One fun thing about living in the country is the wildlife. Since we've been in the new house (2.5 months now) we have seen deer, racoons, all kinds of birds, strange moths and other insects, and the fattest frogs (technically toads) I have ever seen. Scott insists on leaving the front porch lights on at night to protect us from the ne'er-do-wells. I've never heard of a burglar entering through the front door anyway, but whatever. So the porch lights attract bugs, which in turn attract fat frogs. They are particularly abundant after the rain. The other night, we found one in the (closed!) garage, having a soak in Molly's water bowl. We tried to get it's picture in the bowl but it made a break for it and went hopping about the garage. Pilot Mountain Card

I thought I'd try something with a little "local" flair. Scott thinks this looks less sophisticated than my usual cards. I guess because I had to cut Pilot Mountain out with scissors. But it's not like you can pick up a Pilot Mountain stamp at Target. Here it is:

Since the blog is new, I thought I'd post a few cards I've created over the past few months. From now on I'll try to include the supplies used, but if you want to know specifics on these just ask.

Hillsville Flea Market

Howdy. This is my first post on my new blog. I have succumbed to the pressures of the technological world. Oh well.
This weekend is one of my favorite events of the year. Nope, it is the favorite... The flea market in Hillsville, VA. I think I've been every year since I could toddle. Everything you never knew you needed can be found there. Mostly I'm looking for early American glassware in the Baltimore Pear pattern (what I collect) but I always find some good random stuff too. This year I'm going to keep my eye out for old pictures/buttons/scraps of things that could be used as embellishments on vintage-themed cards. I'm also in the market for a vintage hall tree for the new house.
